Adventures at Fort Riley
Fort Riley is the military home to the Big Red One 1st Infantry Division, and all of the family and loved ones that support the soldiers.
Fort Riley is a great place to see the beautiful scenery of the Flint Hills, visit historical sights dating all the way back to the 1800s, and find great activities for family fun.
If you are looking for some historical sites to see, be sure to check out some of the following, located on the Fort Riley base:
- Custer House – built in 1855
- 1st Infantry Division Museum – history of the Big Red 1 starting in 1917 to current
- U.S. Cavalry Museum – originally opened in 1855 as a hospital
The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation of Fort Riley works hard to provide multiple opportunities for our Fort Riley soldiers, families, and surrounding communities to enjoy activities all year long. They host family bingo at Rally Point Bingo, Custer Hill Bowling Center, and golfing at the Custer Hill Golf Course. Rally Point facility also hosts a comedy show on the first Saturday of every month, so check out the line up! The Fort Riley MWR also hosts events throughout the year, so be sure to check out their website to see the latest events going on!
Barton Community College offers an array of classes to active duty soldiers, family members, and civilians. Barton also offers specific military training classes that transfer over to college credits to any active duty soldiers. There are also many online classes that assist with pursuing a degree at Barton, or to transfer to another school, such as Kansas State University.
